Belarus is planning to participate in creation of agricultural complexes in Uzbekistan, the Belarus Telegraph Agency reported citing Prime Minister of Belarus Andrei Kobyakov.
The Belarusian prime minister made the statement during his meeting with Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, Nigmatilla Yuldashev.
“We are ready to share our experience in agriculture and participate in creation of agricultural complexes in meat and dairy sector in Uzbekistan and in processing livestock products through provision of equipment, technologies, as well as supplies of pedigree products and cattle. We are ready to consider joint production of required components and equipment,” Kobyakov said.
He underlined that the two countries have good opportunities for cooperation in various fields. Belarus is considering possibility of assembling tractors, road-building machinery and buses on gas engine fuel in Uzbekistan.
“We are considering establishment of a joint venture to produce medicines. There are appropriate preliminary developments. In addition, Uzbekistan is interested in that and we are ready to establish a joint licensed production of confectionery products in Uzbekistan,” Kobyakov added.
The prime minister noted the positive dynamics of bilateral trade development, but added that the current level of trade turnover does not correspond to the existing potential.
“The volume of $130 million for the mutual trade of Belarus and Uzbekistan is a very small figure. The potential of our economies is much larger, and we must increase our mutual trade. We can offer products that are traditionally in demand not only in Belarus, but in other countries as well. These are dairy products, meat products, beef, poultry,” Kobyakov said.
He added that Belarus is ready to consider the proposal of the Uzbek side on direct supply of cotton fiber, fresh and processed fruits, vegetables and nuts to Belarus.
In turn, Yuldashev thanked the Belarusian side for hospitality and noted that Uzbekistan is pleased with Belarus' achievements in social and economic development.
“Belarus is one of the important partners of Uzbekistan. At the heart of the successful development of bilateral relations are amicable relations between the heads of state,” Yuldashev said.
