A security guard has gone on trial at the Dubai Court of First Instance after he allegedly stole products from the pharmacy where he worked.
The 23-year-old Pakistani guard's theft was discovered after a customer complained he had stolen his mobile phone on May 2.
A 29-year-old Indian pharmacist said: "I was at work at the pharmacy in Al Nahda around 11pm when I received a call from a customer complaining that he lost his phone. He said he was here at 9:30pm and had suspicions it was the guard who took his handset."
The witness added: "I went to check the guard's bag and then found items belonging to the pharmacy. There was an electric shaving razor, shaving foam, vitamins, and a male potency enhancement drug."
The guard claimed to the employee he had purchased the items previously from one of the staff. However, the latter denied on the phone he had sold the guard any such products.
When confronted with what that employee said, the guard confessed he did steal the items and also admitted he had stolen before but got away with it.
He also took out the customer's mobile phone. The phone was then returned to the customer while the guard was reported to the police.
The defendant, who admitted to the theft charge during investigation, has been placed in detention.
A court ruling will be released on June 6.
