WKU TEN: Lady Toppers close regular season with matches against Middle Tennessee, Campbellsville and Alabama A&M

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky University Women’s Tennis will close the regular season with three matches this week.

The Lady Toppers will travel to Middle Tennessee on Tuesday, before returning home to play Campbellsville on Wednesday and Alabama A&M on Thursday at the Warren County Tennis Facility at Michael O. Buchanon Park.

The Lady Toppers will celebrate Senior Day on Thursday prior to the 2:30 p.m. CT match against Alabama A&M. The ceremony recognizing Sofia Blanco, Sunskrithi Damera, Rachel Hermanova and Mariana Zegada is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. CT.

SERIES INFORMATION

Middle Tennessee

  • The Lady Toppers are 14-29 all-time against Middle Tennessee. WKU claimed a 4-1 victory over the Blue Raiders on Senior Day in Bowling Green last season.

Campbellsville

  • WKU is 6-1 all-time against Campbellsville. The last meeting between the two programs took place during the 2014 season and was the only win in the series for the Tigers.

Alabama A&M

  • The Lady Toppers hold an 11-1 lead in the all-time series with Alabama A&M. WKU has won 10 consecutive matches between the programs, including wins in each of the last four seasons. The Lady Toppers won 4-0 last season in Huntsville, Alabama.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS

Middle Tennessee

  • The Blue Raiders enter the week with a 14-6 overall record and a 3-2 record against CUSA foes.
  • Against CUSA competition, Middle Tennessee has defeated UTEP, Kennesaw State and Jax State, and lost to FIU and Liberty.
  • Middle Tennessee also has wins this season over Louisville, Chattanooga, Lipscomb, Eastern Kentucky, Belmont, Murray State, Austin Peay, Missouri State, Hillsborough Community College, Navy and St. Thomas.
  • The Blue Raiders are coached by Tayo Bailey-Duvall, who is in her seventh season in that role.

Campbellsville

  • Campbellsville enters the week with a 5-7 overall record and an 0-1 mark in Mid-South Conference play.
  • The Tigers have wins over Centre College, UT Southern, McPherson College, Georgetown College and Pikeville.

  • Alabama A&M is in the 11th season under Head Coach Willis Mbandi.
