BCAA members can save up to $20/mo on Rogers 5G plans

If you're a BCAA member looking for a deal on wireless, Rogers might be the way to go

Rogers BCAA plans.

If you’re with the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA), you could potentially save a bundle on your Rogers wireless bill.

According to the BCAA website, members can save up to $20/mo on Rogers 5G Infinite plans. The deal is available to both new and existing Roger customers.

When I clicked through to learn more about the deal, the website asked whether I was activating a new primary or additional line, or upgrading an existing line (I selected activating a new primary line to see what options were available).

The BCAA site listed three plans with slightly different pricing depending on whether I wanted to bring my own phone or finance a device from Rogers:

  • $40/60GB 5G (250Mbps speed cap), $45/mo if financing.
  • $45/100GB 5G Canada/U.S. (1Gbps speed cap), $50/mo if financing.
  • $50/150GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (1Gbps speed cap), $60/mo if financing.

All the plans include unlimited data, which means that once people use up the monthly data bucket, they can continue using data at a reduced speed of up to 512Kbps. The plans also include unlimited Canada-wide calling and international texting, shareable data, call display, voicemail, call waiting, group calling and more.

Interestingly, the plans also include a free ‘smart connection,’ which is a 24-month credit for the monthly service fee of a data connection for a connected device like a smartwatch or tablet if customers finance said device with Rogers. Notably, this isn’t exclusive to BCAA members as it is available on Rogers’ website, too.

How the BCAA deals compare to Rogers’ plans

Speaking of Rogers’ website, it’s worth taking a moment to compare the BCAA plans to Rogers’ existing plans (which are set to expire on April 14). Rogers does have a $39/60GB plan, but it’s exclusively for additional lines. Still, the $40/60GB BCAA plan is basically identical, except that it’s $1 more and available as a primary line. Regardless, I’m not seeing the $20/mo savings there.

Moving on to the $45/100GB BCAA plan, the closest offers on Rogers’ website are the $50/100GB BYOP plan and the $65/125GB plan for financing a device. The former is nearly identical to the BCAA plan but that’s only a savings of $5/mo, not $20. The BCAA plan jumps to $50 if you finance, but that’s only $15/mo less than Rogers’ in-market plan. Notably, Rogers’ in-market plan includes more data, while the BCAA plan features Canada/U.S. roaming.

Finally, the $50/150GB BCAA plan ($60 with financing) sits somewhere between Rogers’ $60/150GB ($70 with financing) and $75/200GB ($80 with financing) plans. The former matches on data amount but only has Canada/U.S. roaming, while the latter matches BCAA’s Canada/U.S./Mexico option but has 50GB more data. Depending on which you want to compare with, the BCAA plan saves $10-$20 per month.

While most of the BCAA plans fall short of the $20/mo savings promise, the deals overall are quite good. If you live in B.C. and have BCAA, it’s probably worth signing up for one of these plans, especially if you’re already with Rogers. That said, there are still some better deals out there. For example, Public Mobile’s $35/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan comes in under the $40/60GB, Canada-only BCAA x Rogers deal.

You can learn more about the BCAA x Rogers deals on the BCAA website.
