      The president has approved Kentucky's emergency declaration amid a stretch of tornadoes and flooding throughout the state.On Friday, FEMA announced President Donald Trump authorized the agency to coordinate all disaster relief efforts to help get assistance to those affected by recent weather.Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency. Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance, under the public assistance program, will be provided at 75% federal funding.The assistance is for all 120 Kentucky counties.Residents and business owners who sustained losses can begin applying for assistance at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 800-621-FEMA (3362) or by using the FEMA App.FEMA said Jeremy Slinker will be the federal coordinating officer for federal response operations in the affected area.Gov. Andy Beshear declared a state of emergency ahead of Wednesday night's big storms, which likely produced tornadoes, and the several days of rain that are following.That allowed the activation of the Kentucky Emergency Operations Center and units of the Kentucky National Guard.
