PORTLAND (WGME) -- Friday is the pick of the week in Maine.

Mainers will enjoy sunshine and mild temperatures Friday before the chance for wintry and wet weather returns for the weekend.

Friday will be beautiful. It looks like the pick of the week, with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 50s. We'll see plenty of sun through the afternoon.

Saturday will start out cloudy. Our next storm will arrive towards the late afternoon hours. It will start as snow in many areas, at least away from the coast. Snow will quickly turn to wintry mix and then rain as we head into Saturday evening.

Steady rain continues through Sunday morning. We will dry out by the afternoon, with highs climbing into the 50s. Some afternoon sunshine is possible.

Monday requires monitoring. A storm will be passing to the south, and it's possible we see some rain and snow showers. At this point though, it looks dry with highs in the 40s with lots of clouds.

Another storm system arrives next Tuesday towards the afternoon and evening. It may start as rain, but will likely turn to snow Tuesday evening. Snow will wrap up late Tuesday night. The highest accumulation chances will be inland and into the mountains.

Sunshine will then return for next Wednesday and Thursday, but cool temperatures will stick around.
