Kentucky Derby Raffle benefits the Ronald McDonald House
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The 13th annual Kentucky Derby Raffle was held at the Steel District on Thursday afternoon.
Every year, the charity event is put on to help benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charity of South Dakota.
Participants were able to purchase raffle tickets to win a once-in-a-lifetime weekend trip for six to the 151st Kentucky Derby on May 3.
“Tonight it’s all about the kids, it’s about the event, it’s about the family. Ronald McDonald House has been around the years, and we just need to support it in South Dakota, and it’s just a great cause,” said guest Mike Luken.
“Hospital Bills can mount up very quickly for all of these pediatric families that don’t have anywhere else to go without it being very expensive. The Ronald McDonald House relives that burden and we’re only able to do that because of generous donors like the people here tonight,” said Jessica Arend, the Chief Development Officer for RMHSD.
Guests were also able to win prizes for being the “most fashionable” if they dressed up in their race day best.
