GRAND FORKS — Former UND guard Jocelyn Schiller is trading in shades of green.

Schiller, the Grand Forks Red River product and Summit League Freshman of the Year, will transfer from UND to North Dakota State, she announced Tuesday.

During Schiller's true freshman season at UND, she averaged 16.3 points per game during conference play.

Schiller's 408 freshman points are the third-most all-time by a UND freshman. Jenny Crouse has the record with 558, while Ashley Langen had 548. Schiller sits ahead of former stars Sheri Kleinsasser (385) and Jaime Pudenz (379).

Schiller, a 5-foot-7 point guard, started all 31 games and played a team-high 35.2 minutes per game. She added 2.9 assists per game and a team-best 1.3 steals per game.

She finished 12th in the Summit League in free-throw percentage at 79.2 percent.

Over 16 conference regular-season games, Schiller recorded double-digit scoring in each, including a 21-point performance against No. 2 Oral Roberts and a 20-point effort against No. 3 North Dakota State.

Her four 20-point games were the most by a freshman in the league.

In the Summit League Tournament in Sioux Falls, Schiller had 18 points and eight assists in a quarterfinal win over St. Thomas.

Schiller, who scored more than 2,300 points at Red River, was the 2024 Miss Basketball in North Dakota. She led Red River to a 2023 state title. In 2024, she broke the record for points in a tournament with 105, points in a semifinal round with 45 and points in a championship game with 34.

Schiller, who heard from more than 30 teams, announced last Monday she would enter the transfer portal on Tuesday's official opening. Earlier Monday, UND head women's basketball coach Mallory Bernhard submitted her resignation, while assistant Dennis Hutter was promoted to head coach.

On Tuesday morning, eight UND women's basketball players were in the portal. Seven of UND's top nine scorers from last season are in the portal.

The only two players from the regular rotation not listed in the portal are Walker Demers and Mikayla Aumer. The players in the portal are Schiller, Fatima Ibrahim, Kiera Pemberton, Kiyah Hurst, Jayla Owen, Rakiyah Beal, Nevaeh Ferrara Horne and Paris Bass.

In the 2024-25 season, UND finished 12-19. The Hawks advanced past the quarterfinals for the first time since 2019 but fell to South Dakota State in the semifinals.

UND and NDSU split the season series 1-1 with both teams winning on their home floor.

The Bison women finished 21-12 last season. After being upset in the Summit League quarterfinals by Kansas City, NDSU won two games in the WNIT before falling in overtime to Troy on Monday in Fargo.
