Trump administration freezes Title X funding for Planned Parenthood, impacting Indiana centers
The Title X funding was used for family planning and other health services

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A spokesperson for Planned Parenthood says the Trump administration is withholding tens of millions of dollars in Title X funding from Planned Parenthood affiliates in the Hoosier state and across the nation.
Nine Planned Parenthood state affiliates that receive federal Title X funding through its family planning program were notified on Monday that their funding is being “temporarily withheld” because of possible violations of civil rights laws and President Trump’s executive orders, Politico reports. The report says those violations include continued promotion of DEI efforts as well as serving undocumented immigrants.
Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky (PPGNHAIK) spokesperson Nicole Erwin says the funding freeze will “harm thousands of patients in Indiana who rely on Planned Parenthood for essential sexual and reproductive health care”.

Erwin says leaders are still evaluating how it will impact Indiana centers, but believe it will lead to more than 3,000 low-income Hoosiers facing increased barriers in accessing vital care.
She says the Title X funding contributes to a wide range of health services, including cancer screening, birth control, STI testing and treatment, and wellness exams. Such services are “especially vital” in underserved areas where such Title X providers may be the only affordable care option, Erwin says.
Erwin provided the following patient demographics for Indiana Planned Parenthood centers in 2024:
- 34,296 patient visits across 11 health centers
- 52% of patients have incomes at or below the Federal Poverty Level
- 41% identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color)
- 33% use Medicaid to access care
Erwin cited a Jan. 2025 survey by PerryUndem that found 77% of Americans oppose taking away funds from Planned Parenthood that are used for birth control for those with low incomes.
