Southern Illinois Universities Saluki Takeover Tour is returning to the state's southernmost 17 counties.
Chancellor Austin Lane says this year faculty, staff, and even student ambassadors will visit 50 different high schools across the region to showcase all that SIU offers.
"We want to make sure they know this is their regional, hometown university, their first choice," Lane says. "there's no reason to look anywhere else and we're bullish about that, we're competitive and we're talking about this university like crazy."
Chancellor Lane says that SIU roots run deep in southern Illinois and they want to make sure legacy students are coming to SIU for college, just like the Salukis' before them.
This all goes back to SIU being a hands-on school Chancellor Lane says.
"But who's gonna do that? Who's gonna go out to these schools and bring their faculty and administrative teams and show these students who've been admitted how much we want them to show up in August and how we can't wait fo them to be here," Lane says. "I think that's so important."
