Authorities said a shooting inside a South Carolina Walmart left two people injured and one person detained.

"Multiple shots" were fired Tuesday just before 3 p.m. at the Walmart Supercenter located at 805 Highway 9 Bypass West in Lancaster.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Lancaster City Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office, responded to the scene and learned that the males involved knew each other. "It didn't seem to be random," said City of Lancaster Police Department Chief Don Roper. He noted that investigators are trying to determine exactly how the male victims became involved.

Roper told reporters during a news briefing that the shooting happened in the automotive section of the store.

The injuries of the unidentified individuals are not considered life-threatening, according to Roper. Both shooting victims suffered gunshot wounds and are being treated at a hospital.

The building was secured by law enforcement officers and the scene was cleared.

At this time, authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Lancaster Police Department or the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office if they have information about this shooting.

It's unknown if others were involved, but authorities told the public the investigation is ongoing.

"We're going to do all we can to make sure, before we leave here, that everyone detained that was involved," Lancaster County Sheriff Barry Faile said.

Walmart management is reportedly cooperating with the investigation.

"Anytime you get inside of the store, and these people shooting, that's pretty dangerous in my eyes, certainly the folks doing regular business don't want to be a part of anything like that," he added, assuring they will get anybody else who may have been involved into their custody.

Photos shared with local media outlets showed a large police presence. Schools in the Lancaster County School District were put on lockdown because of the shooting, according to a district spokesperson. They noted that students were on spring break and not on campus at the time.
