STORMS THAT WE’RE WATCHING FOR US. THAT’S WHY TODAY IS AN ALERT DAY, WHICH IT’S BEEN. AND TOMORROW WE ADDED THAT ONE IN THERE BECAUSE WE HAVE THAT SECOND ROUND THAT’S GOING TO ROLL IN POSSIBLY DURING OUR MORNING DRIVE. SO YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE YOU TUNE IN TO FIRST NEWS TOMORROW MORNING. WE WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW RADAR IS LOOKING. WE OF COURSE WILL LET YOU KNOW IF THAT’S HAVING ANY SORT OF IMPACT ON OUR TRAFFIC. IF THERE ARE STORMS AROUND AND IF WE HAVE ANYTHING SEVERE TOMORROW MORNING. SO WE’RE PLANNING AS OF RIGHT NOW, THAT THERE’S GOING TO BE TWO ROUNDS OF POTENTIALLY SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. ROUND NUMBER ONE WILL BE THIS EVENING BETWEEN ABOUT EIGHT AND MIDNIGHT. SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS, MEANING THAT SOME OF US ARE GOING TO SEE THOSE STORMS. HAIL, DAMAGING WIND, AND THE POSSIBILITY OF A TORNADO OR TWO. THOSE ARE ALL THREATS. THEN YOU GET ROUND NUMBER TWO. THAT WILL BE OVERNIGHT MORE SO HEADING CLOSER TOWARDS SUNRISE TOMORROW BETWEEN ABOUT 4:00 IN THE MORNING AND 8 A.M., THAT WILL BE MORE OF A WIDESPREAD LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS. STILL WATCHING FOR THAT DAMAGING WIND THREAT. THERE COULD BE SOME SMALLER HAIL WITHIN THAT LINE, AND THERE COULD BE BRIEF SPIN UPS AS WELL. SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WE’RE NOT LETTING OUR GUARD DOWN AT ALL AS WE GO THROUGH THIS EVENING AND THROUGH OUR EARLY MORNING HOURS TOMORROW. AND IT’S JUST A GOOD REMINDER TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE MULTIPLE WAYS TO GET ALERTS. SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE OUR KMBC NINE NEWS APP. MATT EVANS WAS TALKING ABOUT THAT A FEW MINUTES AGO, SO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THAT DOWNLOADED SET UP SET TO GET THOSE NOTIFICATIONS AND ALERTS JUST IN CASE. WE GET SOME WARNINGS HERE THIS EVENING. THE BULK OF THE AREA, AS YOU CAN SEE WE’RE IN ORANGE. SO WE’VE GOT THAT MEDIUM THREAT FOR SEVERE WEATHER ENDING IN THE TIMELINE FOR BOTH ROUNDS OF SEVERE WEATHER BETWEEN 8:00 THIS EVENING AND EIGHT IN THE MORNING TOMORROW. GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL THREAT 60 PLUS MILE AN HOUR WIND GUSTS AND A TORNADO OR TWO. ALSO A POSSIBILITY AS WELL. SO ALL THE THREATS THERE. WE’RE GOING TO BE WATCHING THAT VERY CAREFULLY. AGAIN. MAIN THREAT WILL BE HAIL AND WIND. THESE ARE OUR TOP TWO THREATS TO WATCH FOR. THE TORNADO THREAT IS LOWER, BUT STILL SOMETHING WE NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON THIS EVENING. AND FOR THAT SECOND ROUND THAT COMES IN FOR THE MORNING TOMORROW. SO I JUST WANT TO REITERATE THAT TO YOU AS FAR AS WHAT THE TIME LINE LOOKS LIKE. SO FOR THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON TO THE EVENING, THERE MIGHT JUST BE AN ISOLATED SHOWER OR TWO THAT POPS UP MAINLY WELL EAST OF THE METRO. SO THINGS WILL BE RELATIVELY QUIET FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL HOURS. BUT HEADING CLOSER TO EIGHT, NINE, 10:00. THAT’S WHEN WE’LL SEE A FEW OF THOSE THUNDERSTORMS POPPING UP. AND THESE ARE THE STORMS THAT COULD HAVE THAT LARGER HAIL, THAT GOLF BALL SIZE HAIL COULD HAVE A TORNADO IN THERE, COULD HAVE THE 60 MILE AN HOUR GUSTS WITH THESE ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS. THAT’S TEN THAT WILL RACE OFF TO THE NORTH AND EAST. AND THEN HERE’S THAT BIGGER LINE THAT WILL FORM. SO THIS IS NOW LOOKING AT 1 A.M. THIS BIGGER LINE WILL GRADUALLY SETTLE SOUTH AND EAST TOWARDS THE METRO. ARRIVING IN THE METRO AREA BETWEEN ABOUT FOUR AND 6:00 IN THE MORNING. YOU CAN STILL SEE HERE 7 A.M. THIS COULD BE MOVING RIGHT ALONG I-35, SLOWING US DOWN FOR THAT WEDNESDAY MORNING COMMUTE. THEN LATER IN THE MORNING THAT WE GO, WE’LL MOVE THOSE STORMS OUT OF HERE. WE SHOULD SEE SOME CLEARING. IT WILL BE A WINDY BUT QUIETER AFTERNOON, CERTAINLY COMPARED TO WHAT WE COULD SEE IN THE MORNING. SO ON YOUR NINE DAY FORECAST TOMORROW, IT’S AN ALERT DAY. WE’LL HAVE THAT SEVERE WEATHER THREAT, THAT LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS IN THE MORNING, PRIMARILY BEFORE 9 A.M. AFTER THAT, WE SHOULD GET SOME SUNSHINE 70 DEGREES TOMORROW AFTERNOON. AND LOOK AT THAT. SOUTHWEST WIND WILL BE GUSTING UP NEAR 35 MILES AN HOUR. THURSDAY. THERE MIGHT BE SOME SHOWERS, BETTER CHANCE OF SHOWERS SOUTH OF THE METRO. THAT CHANGES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY. OUR RAIN CHANCES CONTINUE TO GO UP, SO THOSE ARE NOW IMPACT DAYS. WE’RE NOT WORRIED ABOUT SEVERE WEATHER FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, BUT IF YOU HAVE OUTSIDE PLANS THAT RAIN COULD AFFECT THOSE PLANS BOTH OF THOSE DAYS, WE’LL SEE IF ANY SHOWERS LINGER INTO EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. SUNDAY SHOULD DRY OUT AND THEN LOOK AT NEXT MONDAY AND TUESDAY. FROST O
