With summer vacation nearly upon us, people and families planning to travel out of the country soon are encouraged to check the U.S. Department of State Travel Advisories map to see travel advisory warnings for all countries.
The travel advisory map is available on the Department of State’s website and can be viewed here.
Federal officials have issued seven advisory warnings within four advisory levels.
Level 1
- Countries with a Level 1 advisory are highlighted in blue; travelers are encouraged to use normal precaution
Canada, Iceland, Suriname, Zambia, Australia, Mongolia and Japan are some countries included on the federal list.
- Some countries with a Level 1 advisory are highlighted in blue with white stripes; travelers are still urged to use normal precautions. However, parts of the country have a higher security list.
Thailand, Malaysia, Senegal, Paraguay and Kyrgyzstan are the only countries with this designation.
Level 2
- Countries with a Level 2 advisory are highlighted in yellow; travelers are encouraged to use increased caution.
Greenland, Sri Lanka, the Republic of the Congo, the United Kingdom, Spain and Germany are a few countries marked in yellow.
- Some countries with a Level 2 advisory are highlighted in yellow with white stripes; travelers are urged to use increased caution. However, parts of these countries have high-security risk.
India, Algeria, Brazil, Ecuador and Saudi Arabia are a few countries with this designation.
Level 3
- Countries with a Level 3 advisory are marked in orange; travelers are urged to reconsider travel.
Popular Caribbean Islands Trinidad and Tobago were given this designation.
Nicaragua and Uganda are some other countries that were marked in orange on the map.
- Some countries with a Level 3 advisory are marked in orange with white stripes; Travelers are urged to reconsider travel. However, if they do decide to travel to these locations, they’re urged to stay away from locations with a high-security risk.
Popular travel destination Jamaica was marked in orange with white stripes.
Colombia, Honduras, Pakistan and Bangladesh are a few countries with this designation.
Level 4
- Countries with a Level 4 designation are marked in red; people are urged to not travel to these locations no matter the circumstance.
Russia, Ukraine, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Sudan and Libya are some countries with this designation.
People can search any country on the map and view its advisory level on the Department of State’s website. The map includes specific reasons why areas have advisory designations.
