Iowa has scheduled its first men’s basketball game of the Ben McCollum era
It’s a team that was in the NCAA tournament this season and won 26 games. But it won’t bear any resemblance to its 2024-25 version.

Iowa’s first men’s basketball game in the Ben McCollum will be against a team that played in the 2025 NCAA tournament.
That’s the Robert Morris Colonials, and they’re playing at Iowa on Nov. 4. The Colonials were 26-9 this season.
Robert Morris, located in Moon Township, Pa., won the Horizon League regular-season and tournament titles this season. As a No. 15-seed, it played No. 2-seed Alabama extremely tough before bowing, 90-81. No team seeded 13th through 16th came closer to winning.
As is the case with good mid-majors, however, their best players are entering the transfer portal and getting picked off.
Robert Morris had the Horizon’s Player of the Year this season in Alvaro Folgueiras, a sophomore from Spain. He and his team’s three other top scorers entered the portal last week.
