New company to service CenterPoint Energy customers in Louisiana, Mississippi
MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Some energy and gas customers in Louisiana and Mississippi are receiving their services from a new company starting on Tuesday, April 1.
Delta Utilities acquired CenterPoint Energy’s regulated natural gas local distribution companies that serve Louisiana and Mississippi.
Headquartered in Louisiana, Delta Utilities said the acquisition could bring economic benefits to the Northeast Louisiana region.
“As a former energy executive and proud Louisiana native, I am confident Delta Utilities will be at the forefront of the natural gas industry, a catalyst for economic growth and a steward in driving community impact,” said Pete Tumminello, Execuniversity Chairman of Delta Utilities Board of Directors.
According to Delta Utilities, customers do not need to take any action as accounts were automatically transferred to Delta Utilities.
The company added that customers previously served by CenterPoint Energy should not see a disruption in their services, bill cycles, payment preferences, and online portal access in the immediate future.
“We are grateful to the Louisiana Public Service Commission for their thorough review and regulatory approvals, which enabled this acquisition to move forward and safeguard reliable and affordable energy in our communities,” said Tim Poché, CEO of Delta Utilities.
Delta Utilities also announced it is in the final stages of acquiring Entergy’s two regulated natural gas local distribution companies in New Orleans and Baton Rouge.
That sale is expected to close in summer of 2025.
