Clinton Mayor Phil Fisher is not seeking reelection. He announced his retirement after serving 12 years in office.
Flowood Mayor Gary Rhoads also announced that he is retiring. Alderwoman Kathy Smith won the Republican race for mayor, and because there are no Democrats or independents running in the June 3 general election, she is the presumptive winner.
Democrats Comelia Walker and Tim Taylor will also face off in a runoff in the Democratic race for Canton mayor.
In Jackson, a dozen Democratic candidates were on the ballot and three candidates were running on the Republican ticket. The Democratic race is headed to a runoff on April 22 between Sen. John Horhn and incumbent Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba.
At least four Independent candidates for Jackson's mayor will appear on the general election ballot on June 3, along with the winner of the Democratic and Republican primary elections.
