New project getting started soon at U.S. 1 and Route 320

New project

PennDOT says that sound wall removal and replacement operations will begin on Monday, April 7, on the ramp from U.S. 1 North (Media Bypass/State Road) to Route 320 (Sproul Road) in Springfield Township.

April 7 through Aug. 15: The ramp from U.S. 1 North (Media Bypass/State Road) to Route 320 (Sproul Road) will be closed and detoured 24/7.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Springfield Road to access westbound Route 320 (Sproul Road), and Springfield Road and Baltimore Pike to access eastbound Route 320 (Sproul Road).

During the closure, access will be maintained to Collins Drive, and through traffic will be maintained on U.S. 1 North (State Road) through the Route 320 (Sproul Road) intersection.

Pothole patching

PennDOT says motorists are encouraged to report potholes on www.customercare.penndot.pa.gov. Roving pothole patching crews will be out this week at these locations:

• U.S. 1, Springfield Township.

• Route 352, Middletown Township.

Interstate 476

Through April 4: 8 p.m. to 5 the following morning, weeknight lane closure both directions between the Interstate 76 and Interstate 95 interchanges for inlet and guiderail replacement and tree trimming.

Governor Printz Boulevard bridge

Drivers will encounter a 24/7 left lane closure in both directions between Bartram Avenue/Scott Way and Stevens Drive for bridge work.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT didn’t say how long the project will take.

Route 420

The PennDOT $36 million project to replace the bridges that carry the highway over Darby Creek in Prospect Park and Tinicum Township.

Into 2027: One southbound lane of the Route 420 bridge over the Darby Creek to be closed 24/7 as a four-year project to refurbish and replace that span continues.

U.S. 1 project

Through early November: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., a weekday lane closure in both directions between the Kennett Oxford Bypass and Greenwood Road for widening and improvements in Kennett and East Marlborough townships.

Route 252 project

Through April 2: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays closed and detoured in Media and Nether Providence Township weekdays between Worrall Street and Locust Lane, for PECO utility construction.

Conchester Highway project

Through April 1: Periodic lane closures on weekdays from 7 p.m. to 6 the following morning:

• U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) between Cherry Tree Road and the U.S. 322/Route 452 (Market Street) Interchange.

• Route 452 (Market Street) on the north side of the U.S. 322/Route 452 (Market Street) Interchange.

• Bethel Avenue between Dutton Street and U.S. 322/Route 452 (Market Street).

In addition to the nighttime work, daytime lane closures may be in place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Bethel Avenue between Dutton Street and U.S. 322/Route 452 (Market Street).

Aqua Pa. work (from PennDOT)

Oak Avenue: Through May 30, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed and detoured weekdays between Green Lane and Cottonwood Avenue in Aldan and Upper Darby Township.

Aqua Pa. work (from Aqua)

In Aldan and Upper Darby Township, crews are upgrading 7,200 feet of aging water mains. Main replacements will occur on the following streets:

• Providence Road between Oak Avenue and the CVS Shopping Center

• Edmonds Avenue between State Road and Woodland Avenue

• Ormond Avenue between State Road and Highland Avenue

• Concord Avenue between State Road and Highland Avenue

• Highland Avenue between Woodland Avenue and Edmonds Avenue

Ridley Township will see 2,475 feet of main replacement on the following roads:

• Harding Avenue between Manor Circle and Arlington Avenue

• Milmont Avenue between Seventh Avenue and Harding Avenue

• Duryea Drive from Seventh Avenue to end of cul-de-sac

• James Circle from Seventh Avenue to end of cul-de-sac

• Fulmer Circle from Seventh Avenue to end of cul-de-sac

• Rolling Creek Road from Girard Avenue to end of cul-de-sac

In Collingdale, crews are also upgrading 1,750 feet of aging water mains. Main replacements will occur on Pershing Avenue from MacDade Boulevard to the end of the road.

Newtown Township will see 600 feet of new main installed on White Horse Road between Bridle Lane and Darby Paoli Road

The new ductile iron mains across the county will better meet community demands, ensuring reliable water service for years to come, Aqua says.

Aqua did not provide completion dates for these projects. The Daily Times will lift them from this listing in mid-April.
