With North Carolina set to go back to natural grass at Kenan Memorial Stadium in 2025, one fan can get a piece of the old turf field. Not just any piece either, as the Tar Heels logo portion of the artificial turf made its way onto Facebook Marketplace in the past few weeks.

A photo emerged on social media showing the item for sale with a current bid at $500. The poster stated that they would continue to take offers through April 30 at which point the turf would go to the highest bidder.

North Carolina had a grass field from 2017-19 before moving to artificial turf in 2020. It remained that way for five years but with the turf reaching its lifespan, new coach Bill Belichick and athletic director Bubba Cunningham made the choice to go back to grass.

The new field is expected to be completed by the end of this month, but that doesn’t mean that every fan will have to say goodbye to the old look. One person will get to take the logo home with them and have a piece of history.

The Tar Heels are coming off of a 6-7 finish this past season and hired Belichick to replace Mack Brown. Belichick does not bring any college coaching experience but is a six-time Super Bowl champion in the NFL with the New England Patriots.

UNC will hope for improvement in its first season under Belichick on a new-look field. The 2025 season is set to kick off on Sept. 1 against TCU at home.

Mack Brown puts multi-million dollar North Carolina beach house up for sale

Former North Carolina football head coach Mack Brown has put his beach house on North Carolina’s coast up for sale, according to Ross Martin. The property is listed with a $12.75 million asking price.

It includes five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms and is 5,701 total square feet. The beautiful Atlantic Ocean is visible from the home’s windows and the beach is just a stone’s throw away from the backdoor. Unfortunately for Brown, he no longer has a program tying him to the property.

North Carolina fired Brown after the Tar Heels’ regular-season finale this past season. During his time at the helm of the program, UNC posted a 113-79-1 overall record and a 67-58-1 mark in conference play.
