Meet the glamorous no-nonsense Democrat who could finally restore common sense to Massachusetts

A no-nonsense Democrat could be the one to finally bring balance back to the state of Massachusetts, after rumors started to swirl about a potential race for governor.

Diana DiZoglio who is currently the Massachusetts State Auditor, is poised to put her name forward for the upcoming Governor race in the state.

According to the Boston Herald, it is common knowledge that her supporters are incessantly calling for her to run for governor in 2026.

Despite the race being another year away, the 41-year-old could start raising funds and announce her intention to run imminently.

She would be taking on Governor Maura Healey, 54, to battle it out for the top of the Democratic Party in the state.

The firebrand would be the opposite of Healey, presenting herself as a liberal populist who has been waging a war to audit lawmakers.

She has already won over voters, who backed her overwhelmingly to audit the legislature last year, a move that the courts have since halted.

It would be a winning issue for DiZoglio, with Healey rarely ever challenging House and Senate Democrats on hot button topics including the migrant crisis.

Last month after the House rejected a Republican effort to accept DiZoglio's audit plan she went scorched earth on her fellow Democrats.

In a post to her social media, she hit out at House Speaker Ron Mariano and what she described as his 'henchman' Majority Leader Mike Moran.

DiZoglio said that the two had been colluding to 'continue to hide whatever it is they do with your taxpayer dollars'.

Healey's failure to get a grip on things has led to a large number of migrants flooding the state, which has in turn caused a budget crisis costing the taxpayer billions.

The state's shelter system buckled under the surge of migrants arriving into the state in 2023, causing her to declare a state of emergency.

She capped shelter capacity at 7,500 and also banned homeless families from sleeping overnight at Logan International Airport.

In February the state also encouraged migrants who are being rehoused to have their criminal records sealed.

The worksheet is being made available to those in the state's Bridge Track Re-Housing Process, which includes migrants and families experiencing homelessness.

Healey announced the rehousing plan in November to help the state's reliance on hotels and motels to shelter homeless people.

Should DiZoglio decide to enter the gubernatorial race she would be already well battle tested due to her work as the state auditor.

It also would not be an unprecedented move for her to challenge Healey, something which has happened several times in the state's history.

In 1964, then Lt. Gov Frank Bellotti beat out incumbent Governor Endicott Peabody in the primary race before losing the general election.

Democrat Ed King then managed to knock Michael Dukakis from the governor position in 1978.

If DiZoglio does run, it would echo the match up between King and Dukakis. King was a fiscal and social conservative up against a Democratic incumbent.

No matter who does win the primary next year would still face off with a Republican in the general election, but would still be the favorite in the Blue state.
