Eswatini fastest woman Bongiwe Mahlalela had a good night sleep after receiving a gift on Tuesday. Mahlalela was gifted Women’s Sapphire sneakers worth E2 650 by Run-A-Way sport. This is running shoes store based in Pretoria, South Africa (SA).

“Everything was just unbelievable I did not expect it which left me a lot of excitement as I needed such elite training shoes. “I am so much grateful for this pair of shoes thank you so much to Run-A-Way sports I wish they could continue giving even to other athletes,” Mahlalela said. She was responding to a questionnaire asked with regard to her feelings about the support. The short distance runner made headlines for reaching the finals stage in the 2023 African Games held in Accra, Ghana earlier.

However, her luck ran out as she did not win a medal on the biggest stage. Despite not bagging a medal in this event she left a mark. Mahlalela showed mettle in the same stage as she clocked a new time record of 23.74 seconds in the 200 metres heats, surpassing her previous PB of 24.09. The athlete is based in SA courtesy of 2024 Paris Scholarship programme, which she received four years back.
