April 17, 2024, was another day of political infamy, another low point for American liberty, transparency, and our Constitution. It centered upon voters’ leading concern — illegal immigration.

Donald Trump had enforced the Immigration and Nationality Act to detain and deport illegal entrants, plus he used diplomatic action, the Remain in Mexico policy, the safe third country concept, and the Title 42 pandemic control measure.

After Joe Biden’s inauguration, he and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas overturned Trump’s policies. Illegal immigrants now enter America in one of four ways. First, they cross our borders, turn themselves over to border agents, and undergo minimal vetting before being processed and provisioned (catch and release) for relocation into America. Second, at least 2 million “gotaways” have sneaked into America undetected. Third, they use the CBP (Custom and Border Protection) One smartphone app to schedule appointments with border patrol at one of the southern border’s eight ports of entry before being paroled into America. Fourth, they use the CBP One app to arrange flights at their expense to one of 40 undisclosed airports. In Biden’s first three years, it’s acknowledged that this invasion has encompassed at least 10 million illegal immigrants.

Democratic Party immigration policies are causing unnecessary tragedies. With Mexican cartels controlling our southern border, Americans now confront increased drug use — particularly fentanyl — that’s responsible for 100,000 deaths/year, crime, foreign gangs, human trafficking, community costs, financially strained hospitals, schools, and police forces, as well as decreased security. This needless loss of American life and degradation in national security, heritage, election integrity, and increased taxes are all policy-driven — totally unnecessary. Americans needn’t tolerate four more years of Biden’s deadly and reckless immigration policies.

After failing to acquire Mayorkas’ cooperation to achieve more secure borders, House Republicans conducted a lengthy impeachment inquiry before the House voted 214-213 (Feb. 13) to impeach Mayorkas on two articles. Article 1 accuses Mayorkas of “… (refusing) to comply with Federal immigration laws.” Article 2 accuses Mayorkas of “(breaching) the public trust” by lying to Congress and hindering the House Republican-led investigation into his conduct.

Shortly after beginning the Senate’s impeachment trial, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) made a “point of order” that neither article of impeachment rose to the Constitution’s required level “… of a high crime or misdemeanor.” Despite Republican senators’ counterarguments, Schumer (under what authority?) led the Democrat voting majority to dismiss the impeachment articles.

We expect the House’s impeachment and the Senate’s trial to cooperate to achieve constitutional justice. However, the impeachment process is political and largely unchecked by the judiciary; therefore, historical precedent, not judicial interpretation, has determined the Senate’s actions. In Mayorkas’ impeachment, Schumer’s negation of the House’s articles is unprecedented, totally political; he demeaned the impeachment process. Democrats refused to expose Mayorkas’ disastrous immigration policies. Yes, had the trial progressed, Democrats wouldn’t have removed Mayorkas, but we’d know more about Biden’s policies that imperil America’s national security and Americans’ safety.

Schumer established a terrible precedent: the Senate can terminate impeachment articles whenever the controlling political party wills it. Schumer also highlighted our dual system of justice, one for Democrats, another for Republicans. Biden and Mayorkas, it’s easy. Enforce our current immigration laws!

Immigration is 'taking pressure off' the job market and U.S. economy, expert says. Foreign-born workers made up 18.6% of the civilian labor force in 2023, up from 15.3% in 2006, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data. While immigration poses some challenges, it's a net benefit to the U.S. economy, economists say

Daniel

Your first mistake was taking corrupted BLS data at face value. Fact is, most ILLEGAL aliens live off the taxpayer and work the black market (something privileged people in Frederick County may be unaware of). LEGAL immigrants do add a lot to this country, but LEGAL immigrants come carefully vetted to ensure that criminals, terrorists, poor people looking for free stuff and people bearing diseases (tuberculosis, measles) do not enter our country. Also left unaddressed in the BLS statistics top-line is that a huge fraction of the jobs created is government jobs, paid for by taxpayers and which destroy rather than create value in our economy (the same economy from which taxes are extracted).

I’ll say it again Daniel since you seem to lack the most important communication skill of al—listening. The VAST MAJORITY of immigrants (legal or illegal) in this country are humble hard working deeply devout family oriented people. I’m pretty sure those are core AMERICAN values. Immigrants have enriched our communities and continue to do so. Leave them alone! Armed, hateful, and non-inclusive MAGA militants are a greater threat to our communities than people crossing our southern border.

Chupacabra

Backpack seems to think we have a problem with LEGAL immigrants. Can't get it through his head that we don't. It's the ILLEGAL ones we have problems with. The libs like lumping them together, but they are NOT the same!

Another MAGA with a dime store understanding of the Constitution.

Daniel

Proggies have made quite clear their disdain for and antipathy towards the U.S. Constitution on these here pages. You gaslight nobody on this.

Backpfeifengesicht

Daniel, Progressive Democrats fight to preserve the US Constitution. Extreme right wing MAGA’s strive to abolish it. First and foremost through Christofascist interpretations that fit their putrid religious zealotry.

I saw there were some proud guys (with masks on!) marching their white supremacist boohinds in WV yesterday, demonstrating their disdain and antipathy toward the US Constitution. "Very fine people" some say.

Mr Incredible

Meanwhile, the sheep continue to support the House Plant in Chief. EVERY DAY he goes out it ends like this;

He called out Trump, his 2024 general election opponent, as the sole person responsible for the 'cruelty and chaos' that's occurred after the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

However, when he did so, he accidentally asked: 'How many times does he have to prove we can't be trusted?'

ABC News tried to cover for the president, replacing the word 'we' with 'he' in describing the speech, though he was clearly heard saying 'we.'

I love that last line. Perfect encompasses how the media tells you all the unfiltered "news" they decide you need to know.

VAFury1

I find it amusing you continue to label President Biden as "House Plant in Chief", while your Orange Overlord has been falling asleep DAILY in court (and apparently gassing up the joint as well). If Biden is a "House Plant", Trump is a Corpse Flower. :D

America is a country of immigration - almost all of our ancestors were immigrants. The operational word here is ILLEGAL immigration. When Biden tossed out the controlling immigration legislation, he opened the door to some very undesirable individuals, including criminals, drug dealers, etc. and we are beginning to see the results of that. And it's going to get worse before it gets better, unfortunately.

Poor Mr. Quimby. Republicans just turned down a bill that would put more security guards on our border, and he is playing the blame game.

Daniel

Pretty funny, Mcc! It's pretty much like the Proggie view of crime: criminals ignore and disobey laws, therefore we need to enact laws to stop them. There isn't much point in Congress writing more laws when we know the President Joey administration will ignore the laws anyway. We are at the point where the Deep State administration and Dept. of Justice just makes up "laws" as they go along, anyway.

Spock Here

Q ketchup alert.

Spock Here

Ahhhhh "crime". Yes, a picture of riled up Trumpers screaming ''hang Mike Pence'' and beating police comes to mind, supporting a traitor who couldn't stand the fact that he lost. dang proggies lol

Catherine Giovannoni

Mr. Quimby, maybe you didn't hear. Republicans own all the problems at our border.

It was Republicans who insisted that they needed legislation to deal with issues at the border. They didn't say that a president could do fix it on his own; they said they needed legislation. They needed it so much that they refused to fund aid to our allies unless and until they got border legislation. So President Biden and Democrats sat down and negotiated a comprehensive, tough border bill with conservative Republicans.

Among other things, the bill included 1500 new Customs and Border Protection officers, added 4,300 Asylum Officers to speed up the asylum process, increased ICE detention beds, and most importantly, funded the installation of 100 cutting-edge inspection machines to help detect fentanyl. But some people just can't take "Yes" for an answer.

Donald Trump ordered Congressional Republicans to oppose the bill because he prefers to campaign on the issue that our border is "broken." He's been very open about that. He told people he didn't want President Biden to get a "win" for fixing things at the border. He's happy to have things at the border stay the same for the rest of the year because he thinks that will help him politically. How much of a "crisis" is it, really, if it's fine for things to stay the same so that Trump can have a campaign issue?

Upon his orders, Republicans like Ben Cline immediately complied with Trump's demand. Republicans have chosen for years to do nothing about the border and then cynically complain about the border as a campaign issue. Recently, conservative Republican Congressman Chip Roy noted that, "In 2018 we had the House, we had the Senate, we had the White House, and we had a bigger majority than we have today and we utterly failed to secure the border. Totally dropped the ball. Didn't do it." It's 2024 and now they've done it again.

Now, President Joe Biden has the foreign aid he wanted and Republicans have no border bill. Republicans are responsible for any and all of the problems at our border. That Donald Trump -- master negotiator, isn't he?

Spock Here

It's a bit optimistic that the majority of house republicans spurned Trump....Hoping it continues

Excellent points

Backpfeifengesicht

That's politics Mark. And, most mainstream Americans could care less about any of it. I suggest Republicans take up business that really matters to Americans like a living wage, affordable healthcare, police reform, gun regulations, women's rights, or voter supression. The VAST MAJORITY of immigrants in this country are humble hard working deeply devout family oriented people. I’m pretty sure those are AMERICAN values. Immigrants have enriched our communities and continue to do so. Leave them alone! Armed, hateful, and non-inclusive MAGA militants are a greater threat to our communities than people crossing our southern border.

Daniel

LEGAL immigrants have enriched communities. For some reason, whether it's our nation's laws, our borders, or our cities, "legal" is a word that is not to be found in the Proggie lexicon.

Backpfeifengesicht

They occupied this continent before you or I did. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I would rather coexist with them than the smelly gun-toting MAGA's that infest our rural landscapes with their arrogance and hate.

Independent

A bi-partisan comprehensive immigration plan was killed when the former president encouraged lame-duck republicans to not bring it to the HoR floor for a debate. He clearly stated that he wanted a "political win". He doesn't care about America, he only cares about himself. Please don't pretend that he cares for America when he doesn't believe in anything America stands for.

lebkuchen

The guy you're going to vote for for president is currently on trial for a felony. After this trial there will be at least two more in the pipeline, again for felony charges. Why is it that you would lower the bar so low for a guy with a such a dubious Constitutional understanding, directing your ire instead toward those people Jesus Christ spent his short life to save?

Daniel

Yes...whether it is Stalin's Russia, Mao's China or the DNC's New York City, we conservatives support human rights and the victims of political show trials.

Backpfeifengesicht

conservatives support human rights? Rrriiiiightt.

lebkuchen

How about the women Trump assaulted? He's still trying to get his penalty reduced for that. Do women not count as having rights?

Donovan (Mark) is a sad man with no message. I hope his family can get him some help.

MAGA keeps mentioning "illegals." Trump has already been found guilty twice for illegal behavior. He should be a pariah to MAGA in order to avoid the "hypocrisy" label.

Daniel

No, he hasn't. Stop making stuff up.

VAFury1

Defamation IS illegal, danny.

Sexual assault IS illegal.

Tax Fraud IS illegal.

Nobody made that up Danno! Trump has been found guilty of all three. And there's more to come! Stay tuned!
