Thursday’s weather conditions are perfect to watch the morning’s partial eclipse of the sun, but experts warn, only people with proper eclipse glasses should do so.

A partial eclipse of the sun will be visible in the Netherlands on Thursday morning, as the moon crosses across the sun from right to left. The last eclipse visible in the Netherlands was in 2015.

The partial eclipse will start around 11.20am and will be at its peak an hour later. At its height, around 17% of the sun will be hidden from view.

Suggestions to follow the phenomena without eclipse glasses include putting your mobile phone into selfie mode and watching on the screen, and using a pinhole camera to project the eclipse onto a wall or piece of paper.
