Staffordshire Police patrolling in Lichfield are keeping a watchful eye out for motorists using mobile phones at the wheel.
Drivers who are caught face stiff penalties as officers clamp down on people who persist in breaking traffic laws over hand-held phone use.
"Police officers from Lichfield will be patrolling the area and observing motorists who continue to use their mobile phone," said a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police.
"Those drivers could face a fine of £200 and six penalty points. Offending motorists can also be taken to court, whereby a driving ban and a maximum fine of £1,000 could be imposed.
"Please do not use your hand-held phone whilst driving."
