A mum left a heartbreaking 'suicide note' in an emotional mobile phone video before she threw herself into a river.
Mum-of-one Jasleen Kaur recorded the harrowing footage before she took the drastic action to end her own life.
The 30-year-old, who leaves behind her four-year-old child, said she was ending her life because she claimed her in-laws would not let her live with her husband of five years.
She then threw herself into the River Ganges in northern India.
Her husband, Mika, has denied the claims and said and says his wife was depressed because she had failed an exam to become an accountant.
Jasleen said: "I want to live with my husband but I am unable to do so, that's why I am committing suicide."
Indian media said divers pulled Jasleen from the water and she was pronounced dead on arrival at Kanpur's Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.
She had been married to Pavneet Singh Gandhi, a businessman, since 2012.
Police superintendent Gaurav Grover confirmed: "Jasleen Kaur, who was a native of Jaipur, ended her life by jumping into the [Ganges].
"The family of the deceased has been informed and they are on their way to Kanpur.
"The body of the woman has been kept in mortuary and a post-mortem will be conducted."
He added that an investigation into the woman's death had begun.
